Prior to this year, the fastest lap time for the N\u00fcrburgring was 6.11.13. Set by Stefan Bellof in a Porsche 956 back in 1983 when the circuit was used for qualifying for the 1000k Sports Car race. This magnificent time was however beaten earlier this year by the 919 Evo completing the circuit in just 5:19.55.<\/p>\n
But those times are reserved for special vehicles that most people will never have the joy of driving. So what about production cars? Which ones have faired the best around this legendary circuit?<\/p>\n
The fastest production car to grace the N\u00fcrburgring to date is the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ. Driven by Marco Mapelli on 26 July 2018 during a Lamborghini conducted test. This isn\u2019t the only time that Mapelli driving a Lamborghini appear in this top 10 either.<\/p>\n During a Porsche conducted test in 2017 German driver Lars Kern managed an impressive time of 6 minutes and 47.3 seconds whuch surpassed even Porsche\u2019s own expectations.<\/p>\n Car:<\/strong> Radical SR8 LM<\/em> Although not seen by all as a road legal car, the Radical SR8 has been considered a road legal production car by Pistonheads and Evo magazine. Timing of this lap, driven by Michael Vergers in 2009, was overseen by Evo magazine<\/p>\n Here they are again, the dream team of Mapelli and Lamborghini. In 2016 they managed an impressive time of 6 minutes 52 seconds around the N\u00fcrburgring.<\/p>\n Years before the Radical SR8 LM hopped into our number 3 spot its younger brother, driven by Vergers again, managed a 6:55.Timed by Sport Auto.<\/p>\n Car:<\/strong> Porsche 911 GT3 RS (991.2)<\/em> The French professional racing driver, K\u00e9vin Estre managed a 6 minute 56 seconds lap in the Porsche 911 GT3 RS earlier this year.<\/p>\n A Porsche conducted test, observed by Sport Auto saw Marc Lieb manage a 6 minute 57 seconds lap around the\u00a0N\u00fcrburgring in 2013.<\/p>\n Car:<\/strong> Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce (2015)<\/em> And for his hattrick in this top 10 here\u2019s Marco Mapelli in a Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 back in 2015. He managed a 6 minute 59 second lap in this Lamborghini conducted test.<\/p>\n This time was recorded in a privately funded and observed lap by Road & Track. Unfortunatley the third attempt testing ended up with tyre failure which subsequently resulted in crash.<\/p>\n Last but not least in our top 10 is the Nissan GT-R NISMO driven by Michael Krumm. In this Nissan conducted test Krumm managed a very respectable 7 minute 5 seconds lap of the N\u00fcrburgring.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n So we can’t promise\u00a0you’ll be competing for the best\u00a0times at\u00a0the\u00a0N\u00fcrburgring\u00a0but our products could enhance your performance.
