Sin Cars at Silverstone

Viper Performance continues to support German based car manufacturer Sin Cars with a supply deal for all of their silicone hoses.

The Sin Cars team are part of the 2014 British GT cup which made its way to Silverstone in August.

Team Sin Cars have spent the summer months manufacturing a new chassis for the Sin R1 Gt car. This has included extensive re modeling including changing the design and manufacturing techniques of the way the chassis is produced and will handle on circuit.

A new homologated ABS system and traction control has also been added to the list of driver assists. 
The new model will feature a new up rated LS7 engine that has been exclusively built for Team Sin Cars using high quality components.

We wish Sin Cars all the best in the GT cup and any future races.

British F3/GT Championships visit Brands Hatch

Brands HatchThe weekend of the 30th August will be one to remember. The British F3 and GT Championships make their annual visit to the Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit.

You can expect to see future Grand Prix stars in action, with British F3 being a proving ground for much of the F1 grid. The likes of 2009 World Champion Jenson Button, McLaren team mate Kevin Magnussen and Red Bull Racing’s newest recruit Daniel Ricciardo all started on F3.

The British GT series features the world’s finest supercars. Viper Performance will be watching proudly as we supply some of the teams in the GT race series with our high quality silicone hoses.

Viper Performance proud to support Holeshot racing

Holeshot RacingViper Performance are proud to supply hoses, aluminium pipes, and fittings to Holeshot Racing.

Holeshot Racing has 26 years experience in all forms of motorcycle sport and we offer continued support through all events.

This weekend the team were at the Elvington Speed and Wheelie speed event, where they acceded 250mph on many runs. Cecil “Bubba” Myers and his friend Brock O Lee from the USA also joined the team.

Bubba managed some 180mph wheelies on the turbo ZX10R despite being his first time on a turbo bike. Brock flew through the 200+ barrier and ran 231mph, which was great for his first time doing a speed event considering he had not ridden a turbo bike before.

Holeshot racing bikeThe wheelie record was smashed again this year and was won by Egbert Von Popta at 199mph for the kilometer. Ted Brady achieved 197mph and 2nd on a Holeshot GSXR1000 turbo and last years winner Paddy O’Sullivan again on a Holeshot GSXR1000 turbo 3rd with 186mph.

Why choose a quality Silicone hose for a turbocharger hose?

Turbocharged engines are becoming ever more popular for passenger cars and this has presented questions about the materials used for the components which are being placed under increased pressure.

Here at Viper Performance we only use the highest quality silicone in our turbocharger hoses. A report made by a senior industry specialist in the USA highlights the advances made in Fluorosilicone compounds for transportation applications. The report specifically concentrates on the demands on Silicone in turbocharger hoses. The studies carried out in this report indicate the differences between varied silicone formulations.

With the popularity of diesel engines growing they have become more common in smaller cars, with limited space under the bonnet for heat dissipation. It is quite common to see continuous temperatures of >200°C. This makes replacing the organic rubbers and thermoplastics with silicone rubber essential. In tests some silicone formulations show much less tensile loss and elongation loss when exposed to high temperature than others. Highlighting that not all silicone compounds are as effective at the job in hand. When it comes to temperature resistance selecting a high quality silicone is essential.

Another key requirement is for the turbocharger hose to survive contact with hot oils. The report in question shows tensile strength loss of as much as 80% in some cases. Other silicone formulations showed just 30% tensile strength loss, which again indicates the large performance gap between different silicone formulations.

The report concludes by recommending specific fluorosilicone rubber formulations that are capable of meeting the demanding requirements for turbocharger hose liners and other transportation applications. In essence, ensure that you choose wisely when purchasing silicone hoses, finding a supplier who can offer you high quality as well as competitive prices. You can read the full report here.

Viper Performance supplying hoses to Sin Cars

Sin CarsViper Performance now have a supply deal for all silicone hoses for the German based car manufacturer Sin Cars.

The latest project carried out by Sin Cars is the Sin R1. Viper AN/JIC Fuel Shut Off Valve

The Fuel Shut Off Valve is a vital safety device to shut off fuel to the engine by means of a manual tap. it also makes a good anti theft device by shutting off fuel supply, independently of other systems.
