The client wishing to remain anonymous has a private collection of exotic sports cars, and has commissioned Viper Performance to make very unique Silicone hoses for a special project.

Never before has another silicone hose manufacturer made unique exclusive hoses representing a country’s flag. Viper Performance have the know how, and technical knowledge to manufacture such hoses and meet a client specific brief.

To make the hoses Viper Performance had to colour match silicone pigments to a specific colour asked by the client, make and print the Brazilian Flag onto the hoses, all in advance of the Word Cup 2014!.

Viper Performance cannot disclose exact price paid, however much work is involved in mixing colours, making a workable raw material batch, designing and printing logos costs well into the 4 figure sums. This was a one off project, these hoses are exclusive and will never be produced again.

Viper Performance does not normally do commissioned work like this, and mainly focuses on manufacturing universal hoses and direct replacement hose kits in best selling popular Blue, Red and Black, other colours are also available by special order. Viper Performance has not made special ltd edition coloured hoses since 2011, but in the past made dayglow hoses, Gold hoses, Silver coloured hoses as special limited runs.

These “Brazil Edition Custom Hoses” are a work of art and will likely never be seen in the flesh as our private collector keeps his cars well hidden. Restoration Show a huge success

Restoration ShowEarlier this month we exhibited at the Restoration Show at the NEC in Birmingham. The show was a great success and a really enjoyable weekend. Why choose a quality Silicone hose for a turbocharger hose?

Turbocharged engines are becoming ever more popular for passenger cars and this has presented questions about the materials used for the components which are being placed under increased pressure.

Here at Viper Performance we only use the highest quality silicone in our turbocharger hoses. A report made by a senior industry specialist in the USA highlights the advances made in Fluorosilicone compounds for transportation applications. The report specifically concentrates on the demands on Silicone in turbocharger hoses. The studies carried out in this report indicate the differences between varied silicone formulations.

With the popularity of diesel engines growing they have become more common in smaller cars, with limited space under the bonnet for heat dissipation. It is quite common to see continuous temperatures of >200°C. This makes replacing the organic rubbers and thermoplastics with silicone rubber essential. In tests some silicone formulations show much less tensile loss and elongation loss when exposed to high temperature than others. Highlighting that not all silicone compounds are as effective at the job in hand. When it comes to temperature resistance selecting a high quality silicone is essential.

Another key requirement is for the turbocharger hose to survive contact with hot oils. The report in question shows tensile strength loss of as much as 80% in some cases. Other silicone formulations showed just 30% tensile strength loss, which again indicates the large performance gap between different silicone formulations.

The report concludes by recommending specific fluorosilicone rubber formulations that are capable of meeting the demanding requirements for turbocharger hose liners and other transportation applications. In essence, ensure that you choose wisely when purchasing silicone hoses, finding a supplier who can offer you high quality as well as competitive prices. You can read the full report here.

Viper launch reducing diameter hose connectors

hose reducerViper Performance has launched a new reducing diameter aluminum hose connector. These components are hard to find in the market place however are extremely handy being ideal to join any brand silicone hoses, or rubber hose. These connectors are designed to fit inside the hose perfectly.

This aluminium part is reducing in diameter meaning that it is the perfect solution where you wish to expand or reduce the size of your pipe work. They are mirror polished and have a smooth tapered reduction for better airflow. As the reducers have a polished surface, not a coated surface, you can weld them with another 6063 aluminium grade if required. The reducers are not roll beaded for this reason.

The aluminium reducer can be used for intercoolers, superchargers, air intakes, RAM, Air feeds, Induction pipes and hoses, can be clamped to air ducting. Viper Performance supplying hoses to Sin Cars

Sin CarsViper Performance now have a supply deal for all silicone hoses for the German based car manufacturer Sin Cars.

Sin Cars selected Viper Performance products due their quality and reliability. When racing the choice of materials and components is critical in obtaining the highest performance possible.

The latest project carried out by Sin Cars is the Sin R1. The R1 boasts a modern design that meets all requirements in terms of the technical capabilities and aerodynamics used in the motorsport industry. Not only will the R1 have presence on the street, but also will be able to hold its own out on track.

When talking about the future for Sin Cars in the press they have said “Our plans are concentrated on the constant improvement and development of vehicles and the technology involved.” Here at Viper Performance we are looking forward to our hoses playing a part in this improvement.

Sin Cars will be taking part in the GT Cup Championship and as such will be racing at Donington Park National on 26th and 27th April.
