This particular bellow is specially designed for areas where the hose acts as a cushion to absorb lateral movement, compression and expansion as well as vibration. Hoses without this construction would otherwise easily split under movement.

This hose compared to our black Nomex Bellow Hose (part #ref BH) offers much more movement, much more compression and expansion. The trade off is a little less pressure handling due to its thinner wall thickness of 4mm and slightly softer grade silicone of 60°ShA (our other Nomex BH hoses are 5mm wall and 70°ShA silicone hardness). This Articulated bellow would not be so flexible with a thicker wall and harder silicone rubber.
It is therefore recommended for use where pressure is not high.

Speciality built with 4 plies of Aramid / NOMEX reinforcements for high temperatures, rated for 250°C, peak for brief period & 220°C maximum working temperature

The brown coloured (Iron Oxide) silicone offers better heat stability compared to coloured or black silicone. Also features 3 more pronounced humps for better articulation and 4 Stainless Steel Rings to prevent the hose from ballooning.

These hoses are highly recommended to connect your charge cooler / Intercooler etc to pipework, and are 200mm long (6"), Available in a number of popular sizes, and also with options of a reducing diameter one end to the other. BH hoses only come in 150mm long or a handful of 300mm.

The turbo loader hose is reinforced with 4 steel rings to prevent the hose from "ballooning" under boost or pressure, keeping the shape and integrity under any condition. This is a high quality, high specification product. BROWN IRON OXIDE ONLY

Frequently Asked Questions

To maximize the lifespan and maintain the optimal performance of your silicone hoses, regular cleaning is a must. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to properly clean your silicone hoses.

Preparation: Prepare a cleaning solution using a mild detergent and warm water. It is important to avoid harsh or abrasive cleaners that could potentially deteriorate the silicone hoses' surface. Dish soap usually serves the purpose well, as it's designed to cut through grease and grime without causing harm to the material.

Cleaning: Submerge the silicone hose in the soapy water solution and use a non-abrasive cloth or sponge to gently scrub the hose's exterior and interior. If the silicone hose has stubborn stains or deposits, it's best to let it soak in the solution for a while. This will help to soften and loosen the debris, making it easier to wipe off. For hoses with intricate or small openings, consider using a flexible bottle brush to reach into these areas. However, make sure the bristles are soft to avoid scratching or damaging the interior of the hose.

Finishing: Once the silicone hose has been thoroughly cleaned, rinse it well under clean, warm water. It's important to ensure that all soap residue is completely removed, as any leftover soap can attract dirt and grime and lead to build-up over time. After rinsing, shake off the excess water and let the hose air dry completely. Moisture left in the hose can create a conducive environment for mould and mildew, which could lead to unpleasant odours or even compromise the material's integrity.

Lastly, it is worth noting that while silicone hoses are resilient and durable, they do wear out over time. Therefore, cleaning also presents an excellent opportunity to inspect the hose for any signs of wear and tear, such as cracking, discolouration, or structural deformities.

One of the most crucial factors that determine the performance of silicone hoses is their diameter. The diameter of a silicone hose determines the flow and temperature of the fluid passing through it.

The diameter of a silicone hose directly impacts the flow rate of fluid passing through it. A larger diameter hose will allow for a higher flow rate compared to a smaller diameter hose. This is because the larger diameter hose provides a larger cross-sectional area for fluid to flow through, reducing the pressure drop.

Many of our clients in the automotive industry need to understand this to ensure the appropriate flow rate of coolant, oil, or air. For example, a turbocharger system requires a large flow rate of air to function efficiently and therefore requires a large diameter hose. On the other hand, a smaller diameter hose may be more suitable for intercooler piping, where the flow rate is relatively low.

The diameter of a silicone hose also affects its temperature resistance. A larger diameter hose will have a lower temperature resistance compared to a smaller diameter hose. This is because a larger diameter hose has a larger surface area, which results in a higher rate of heat transfer. Choosing the right diameters is incredibly important for the specific temperature requirements, for example clients in the refrigeration industry will have different requirements than those in the automotive industry. After all, one g̶l̶o̶v̶e̶ diameter doesn’t fit all.
